In
time we may come to see how we can live without whales,
their suffering fate long extinguished, their spiritual
light to be gone and shine no more. Do we think our children
will ever thank us for our lack of courage, when we say
we care yet, turn our backs pretending not to notice,
when they need us to truly understand them?
There
is time to stop nations from hunting and killing these
and dolphins, principal intelligent creatures of our earth,
who remain as the legacy we leave to those of us yet unborn,
unseen and silent. Do we keep these beings silent from
their minds too?
A
significant testimony for our ability to live in harmony
with our planet leaves more than a bitter taste; to watch
impassively as these innocents are slaughtered and eaten
for political purpose or maybe simply stored as there
exists no longer a calling for whale meat.
It remains our duty of care to understand that without
whales and dolphins to beautify our lives, our being here
means absolutely nothing. It is allowing unseen people
to take life for profit without care nor concern but simple
greed. We don't really have the need of them for food:
the price to sate this appetite for blood because of tradition
is a lame excuse. People cry in their sleep from poverty
of material gain and others cry for lack of purity and
beauty in life.
People
who claim spiritual empathy and then profit from such
taste and greed just because they can, is not in the realm
of dignity nor understanding but for selfishness and cruelty
of the most barbaric nature. If we as a society claim
to be civilized, then what does this behavior tell us
of ourselves if we fail to stop it? Perhaps if we cannot
regain oursleves then we should be extinguished too, in
the same careless way we seek for others.
Time
will complete the picture we paint - and all too often,
we allow others to choose the colors to use; restricting,
selfish and without the real song of the heart.
